BG FIT PROCESS
1. Pre-Fit Interview
Every fit- whether it's for a novice or experienced cyclist- starts with a brief interview between a trained technician and rider that addresses the individual's injury history, needs and goals.
2. Flexibility Assignment
This evaluation gains an accurate picture of the individual's flexibility and other physical attributes, including assessment of foot structure, knee position, spinal curve, shoulder extension, hip flexion and leg length, among others.
3. Side View
Assessed using the side view of the rider, the goal is to deliver a correct neutral position that's both powerful and comfortable through adjustments to seat height, handlebar height, stem length and cleat position.
4. Front View
Analysis from frontal view to optimize hip, knee and foot alignment for greater performance and balanced power delivery. includes analysis of pedal and shoe placement and squareness on the saddle.
5. Follow Up
After a week or so, the technician calls to discuss the effectiveness of the adjustments and to answer any other questions or concerns the rider may have.
Just a short note to thank you for your excellent
assistance in tweaking my bike fit which even though had already been done by
another bike fitter was causing me a lot of lower back pain.
Since my visit to you,all of my back pain has disappeared
and I now find I can ride for 4+ hours without any major discomfort. Given the
discomfort I endured before visiting you, I can honestly say this was the best
money I have spent in any way on my bike!
Gordon is a genius, I got my brand new bike ‘professionally fitted’ by another very reputable Irish bike fitter. Following the fitting I suffered injury’s for 12 months…! The pain from the injuries and muscular problems due to riding on a poorly fitted bike meant I had to remain off the bike for another 9 months, pay for extensive rehab and spend endless hours retraining my muscular system. During this time I completely lost my fitness and was unable to race, basically a disaster…!
I got wind of Gordo and the Specilazied BG Bike Fit system from a friend who recommended him and the bike fitting.
I looked up all the info on-line, meet Gordo and discussed my problems. Gordon got me up on the turbo and said he could help me. I booked in to get a refit on my bike position.
I found the whole process very thorough and Gordon covered everything and more than I could even think of…
The whole process took a few hours and by the end I was very satisfied and comfortable with my new bike position.
It’s a few weeks on now since my bike fit and I love going out for bike rides again. I’m back doing 3 to 4 spin’s on the road a week. Most importantly I’m pain free and loving it… It feels like I got a brand new bike all over again, the power goes down when I want, while sitting on the saddle feels so comfortable that I am happy to spend hours in the saddle.
I could not recommend the BG Fit System and Gordon highly enough, if you are getting a new bike or just want to have the best fit possible and get the most out of your biking, a BG Fit and Gordo is the way forward….!
recommended, I took an easy spin out yesterday (Friday). I spun in the small
ring on my way out into a b'stard headwind. Once I turned for home with the
wind in my back I was quicker but didn't over-do it. Initial feelings are good.
After the spin (27 km in 57 minutes) I had only very mild tingling in my toes.
At least I can move them in the shoes. The bar position is really better; I
find the hoods a more natural position. I still need to concentrate on bending
the elbow, but the position is more natural. I felt that I was using the
muscles in the thighs a lot more and was just a small bit achy last night. A
good ache, though!
rode out into an even worse headwind. There was no sense in fighting too much,
so I just made turns for 20kph. It gave me more time to think about the
changes. I find I'm not fidgeting on the bike any more, adjusting my hand
position to prevent numbness. The hoods now fit snugly in the palm of my hands,
the tops of the bars have a good ergonomic grip. When I used the drops, my arms
find a parallel position more easily. I had no discomfort between my shoulder
blades. Today, I used a lighter sock and put the shoe covers on and had
no tingling at all. The old winter socks are in the bin. They may have been
past it. It's easier to keep my right knee from touching the bar once I think
about it. There is no knee pain whatsoever. Once I turned for home and with the
wind at my back, I did a few intervals. No issues so far, no jumping around
trying to find a comfortable position, just feels very good. Even the crotch
has improved!! 50 minutes today was enough as I start night shift tonight.
I hope to
get out again on Wednesday. So far I'm delighted with the results of the fit. I
have absolutely no problem sending you a testimonial if you'd like.
again for all your help. Best regards to you and your crew, talk to you soon.
Just back from the Haute
Route and thought I would let you know that your
bike-fit expertise worked wonders. None of the usual aches or pains
despite the volume of distance and altitude. Thanks very much,
the delay in getting back to you - I was on holidays for the past few weeks.
Just wanted to let you know that I'm very happy with the bike fit. The numbness
in my left foot which used to kick in around 60km and the pain in my lower back
which used to kick in after 80km both seem to have disappeared and I've found
it surprisingly easy to adjust to the new posture on the bike with the less
attenuated arm position.
Since the Data Fit I am having no problems with my knees or my back. I don't
feel as fatigued after cycling long durations. Yesterday I cycled 85km which
included two Category 1 climbs and I came out of it unscathed with just the
normal aching leg muscles.

Apologies for the delay in responding. As requested I’m
forwarding feedback relating to the recent bike fit on my Trek Madone 2.1
There is no doubt that the Bike Fit has been extremely
beneficial to my cycling. The inclusion of insoles & in-steps in my cycling
shoes, the changing of the cleat positions, the orientation of the ‘Handlebar
Stem’ and the saddle placement have all played a part in improving my
I think the best way of explaining this is with a regular
training cycle that I have used over the last few years. It’s a small to medium
cycle of 55km over the Cooley Mountains in Co. Louth. I have cycled this
hundreds of times, ranging in time from 1h 50mins to a personal best of 1h
47mins 20secs. I have consistently met these times with an average speed of
30.9km/hr. After the Bike Fit and taking a few recommended easy spins first, I
then used this cycle as a gauge to see if my performance had been improved. I
came in with a time of 1hr 44mins 48secs with an average speed of 31.9km/hr, to
take nearly 3 minutes off a selected route was very impressive. What was more
impressive is that there was ‘no personal bests’ in any of the stages within
the cycle which meant my performance was consistent. I have no doubt that the
Bike Fit was a major factor in this improvement.
Besides improving my performance, it has also stopped any aches
I had been feeling in my joints, such as knees and ankles. It also greatly
diminished the fatigue I would have felt over a long cycle across my neck and
shoulder. I’ve recently entered some sportifs, the most recent in Achill with a
distance of nearly 170km. Apart from general fatigue, there were no underlying
aches and pains that I would have normally associated with these type of
Putting all the benefits aside for a moment, I also enjoyed the
Bike Fit, it was very relaxed, informative with a wealth of expertise on-hand.
Without hesitation, I have already recommended the Bike Fit to a number of
cycling enthuasists who were genuinely interested in the whole process. Value
for money, this was probably the best money ever spent on cycling.
Thanks again for all your help and keep up the good work.
