Welcome
to the Brompton page, in this section of the website you can check the
different option to customize your Brompton, just continue reading to
find out what you can do with them. Once you have decided what yoy want
in your Brompton or you need furder advice you can call us to the 01
8734748 or email us following this link.
The Brompton is a bike which rides superbly, is safe, agile and fast,
yet folds easily and quickly into a highly-compact and portable
package. The result is a vehicle that increases your sense of freedom
and independence.
The
first option that you will choose is the type of handlebars that you
want in your bike, you can choose between three different options.
S-Type

For many, this is the prettiest
Brompton, and with its Kevlar brake cables and high-tensile-alloy
handlebar, it is the lightest. The grips, at about 935mm from the
ground, are appreciably lower than on the M type, and 50mm further
forward, giving a sporty riding position which complements the
positive feel of these bikes.
M-Type

The gull-wing shape of the M Type's
handlebars has been used on the Brompton since the outset: the grip
height is 1015mm, which gives a fairly upright ride with excellent
control, and there is scope for a little fore/aft adjustment. The M
Type is the all-rounder in our range and remains the most popular
Brompton.
P-Type

The multiple positions afforded by the
P Type’s handlebars are designed with the touring cyclist in mind.
Although they are a little heavier than the M Type's handlebars, the
lower grips, about 880mm from the ground and angled for comfort on
longer stretches of road, allow the rider to get down out of the wind
and deliver real power to the pedals; the upper grips at about 1033mm
provide a welcome contrast after a long stretch of riding and also
give great control for manoeuvring in traffic.
Once youy have chosen the handlebars type the next step is to choose the number of gears that you want on your bike.
Singlespeed

Featuring just the elegant simplicity of our rear hub, this is the
purist's choice. As with all single-speed cycling, the direct drive
minimises pedalling inefficiency, though the lack of gear range may
make this option unsuitable for those riding over hilly terrain
and/or looking for more acceleration.
2 Speed

One gear for hills & starting off,
and one for cruising. Based on the unique Brompton derailleur system
and an elegant new Brompton rear hub, this is the best gearing
solution for lightness and portability. The direct drive, with
near-perfect chain-alignment in either gear, is crisp and efficient.
3 Speed

The classic Sturmey-Archer hub,
upgraded to an alloy shell, provides three well-spaced gears. These
are fully enclosed for reliability, and control couldn’t be
simpler. A popular choice for everyday biking.
6 Speed

The combination of the new, highly-efficient Brompton Wide Range
hub with our own derailleur system gives six evenly-spaced gears.
Control with the two triggers is easy and, with its low transmission
losses and wide range, this multi-gear system is the right choice for
touring and for riding in hilly areas.
The third step on costumization of your Brompton is to choose mudgards, rack or non of them.
Version E (no mudguards)

The lightest, cheapest and prettiest
version, but with obvious drawbacks: although the folded package
stands up OK, it’s not as stable as the other versions, and there's
no pump fitted. Most importantly, of course, there is no protection
from any water or dirt thrown up from the road.
Version L (mudguards and no
rack)

The most common package: all-weather
riding without any extra weight.
Version R (mudguards and rear
rack)

Version R provides the additional
functionality of a luggage rack over the rear wheel. The die-cast
aluminium rack comes with shock cords for tying items on, and a
specially-designed Rack Sack is also available for use with it. The
rear rack also allows the optional fitting of our Eazy Wheels,
enabling the folded bike to be pulled along instead of carried.
The
fourth step is will be to choose the colour, you can choose between 15
different colours, and if you think that a single colour is boring, you
can combine two colours to have an even more exclusive bike.
Colour
You can choose either to have your Brompton finished in one colour
or in two, with the extremities and main frame contrasting. The raw lacquer option (a clear
coating highlighting the braze detail and quality) is however only
available for the whole frame, not in combination.

Aplle Green Baby Pink Black
Cobalt Blue Cronflower Blue Flamingo Pink
Orange Purple Haze Racing Green
Raw Lacquer Red Sand.
Turkish Green White Yellow
As an option you can choose the Titanium superlight frame
that will save around akilo fron the wight of the bike. The Titanium parts on superlight frames are not painted, so only
one colour choice is possible (for the main frame and the handlebar
stem).
The next option is to choos the seat pillar and the type of saddle that you prefer.
Standard seat pillar
The standard seat pillar is the default option;
its shorter length keeps the weight down and ensures the most compact
folded package. A standard seat pillar should be fine for anyone with
an inside leg measurement of 33"/840mm or less.
Extended (60mm)
60mm (over 2 inches) longer than the standard seat
pillar and a bit heavier, designed for those with longer legs and
available at no extra charge. The main drawback is that the seat
pillar protrudes correspondingly higher from the folded package
Telescopic steel
The telescopic seat pillar is designed for
those with an inside leg greater than 35"/890mm or for taller
riders wishing to minimise how far the seat pillar protrudes from the
folded package. The telescopic seat pillar gives up to 175mm (almost
7 inches) more elevation yet, when lowered, the saddle projects only
20mm above the folded package.
One
selected the pillar for the bike (if a lonnger one is needed) we'll
choose the saddle of the bike, for that we have two options.
Brompton Saddle
Sporty,
comfortable, light, practical: this high-quality unisex saddle has
been designed by Brompton specifically for our bikes. A moulded grip
under the nose facilitates carrying, and the ingenious and incredibly
light Brompton Pentaclip allows stepless adjustment of the saddle
angle
Brooks B17

Made for Brompton, this
beautiful traditional saddle will give years of comfortable cycling,
the leather moulding with time to the rider. Finished with
hand-hammered copper rivets, and fitted with the Brompton Pentaclip
for stepless adjustment, this old favourite is available in men’s
and women’s versions.
To
make the Bromtons more confortable they come with a small rear
suspension, but if you preffer you can choose to have the firm
suspension that is a much harder rubber piece.
You can also choose the tyres that will go with your Brompton, lets see them
Brompton standard
The
Yellows are exceptionally free-running high-pressure tyres which are
durable yet light and carry a low risk of punctures. They come with
reflective sidewalls as standard, eliminating the need for reflectors
on the wheel spokes.
Brompton Kevlar
The Greens are essentially our standard tyres
but with a Kevlar belt under the tread. This barely affects the
free-running qualities of the tyre and almost eliminates the
likelihood of punctures. They also come with reflective sidewalls as
standard, eliminating the need for reflectors on the wheel spokes.
Schwalbe Marathon
The Marathons are a little heavier than the
Brompton tyres and the deep uni-directional tread, which gives
superior grip, also means that they are not quite as free-running.
But they are solidly-built, with both a Kevlar belt and a thicker
sidewall to lower the risk of pinch-punctures. Like the Brompton
tyres, they also come with reflective sidewalls, eliminating the need
for reflectors on the wheel spokes.
Schwalbe Stelvio

The Stelvios are narrow section tyres
comparable to the tyres fitted to road race bikes; maintained at even
higher pressures than our other tyres, these lightweight slicks are
the fastest in our range. Their slightly smaller diameter means that
gearing is lowered by 2.5% and their narrower width also makes them
unsuitable for use with tyre-driven dynamo lighting. They do not come
with a reflective sidewall, so reflectors are fitted to the wheels.
When you are on the city you want and you need to be seen, for that Brompton offers you three different options.
Battery lighting set complete
The
LED rear lamp with integral reflectors is designed specially for
Brompton and gives a good bright light: this stays fixed to the bike.
At the front is the neat yet powerful S-son 3-LED lamp, easily
removed for folding with a quick-release. Batteries are included.
Tyre dynamo lighting
In this modern system, power comes from the
AXA HR-traction dynamo, its large pulley minimising losses. Lighting
comprises a Basta halogen lamp at the front and the bright Brompton
rear stand-light: this stays on for several minutes after you've
stopped - a great safety feature.
Hub-dynamo lighting
Expensive,
but beautiful; the Son hub is beautifully engineered, highly
efficient, and you can expect years of reliable service. Control is
via a switch on the front lamp; otherwise the lamps are the same as
for the tyre dynamo system.
You
can add lugage bags to yor bike, both front and rear (note that for the
rear lugage you wiil need to add the Brompton rack to your bike.
Brompton front luggage options are based on our Front Carrier
System; luggage is attached via a special frame that latches securely
onto a tapered block. It takes a second to attach or release your
luggage and the load is attached directly to the main frame, having
little effect on steering.
All front luggage, except the folding basket, comes supplied with
a shoulder strap and a high-visibility rainproof cover; secured to
luggage using an elasticated hem, its sealed seams help keep luggage
dry in heavy rain, and it takes up no room when folded.
N.B. The lower handlebars limit the front luggage options on an S
Type: only the S Bag is designed for use with the S Type's lower
profil
Folding basket set
This is our simplest item of luggage - a large,
open-top container, ideal for shopping. Its shape is maintained by a
simple bracing frame which folds flat for storage. Drainage holes are
provided in case of rain. Capacity 24 litres.
C Bag set
A
larger messenger-style bag with a Velcro- and buckle-fastened flap.
The comfortable padded shoulder strap secures neatly when the bag is
fitted to the bike. A multitude of pockets finished with water
resistant zips keep those small essentials safe and dry and a bright
lining means an end to searching for small items in the dark recesses
of your bag. Capacity 22 litres.
Touring pannier set
Has considerably more capacity than the Cloth
Pannier, and a roll-top system with nylon clips for closing. There
are two pockets at the back and a divider inside. In addition, there
are three elasticated net pockets around the outside, where you can
stow the things you need during your ride. Total internal capacity
approximately 28 litres.
S Bag set
A
messenger-style bag which presents a lower profile than the other
options, and offers more compartments to store the paraphernalia of
modern life. Velcro-fastening tabs keep things dry, with clips as
well for the main cover. This is the only front luggage option for
the S Type’s lower handlebars, but can also be used on other
Bromptons. Capacity 20 litres.
Rain cover

Comes
with all front luggage options except the Folding Basket.
Dayglow yellow for visibility, this rainproof cover keeps your
luggage dry in heavy rain. An elasticated hem secures the cover along
the foot of any of our front luggage options; when not in use, it
takes up almost no space.
You can also select the rear luggage, for this you will need the rear rack.
Rack sack

Made from tough DuPont Cordura, the Rack Sack has
been designed to complement the Brompton's rear rack perfectly. With
the sides lined for stiffness, the Rack Sack offers 16 litres of
storage without obscuring any Brompton lighting system. It is
attached to the bike via straps, clips and Velcro around the
suspension bung, the rear rack and the seat pillar, offering a highly
secure, shower-proof solution. Comes supplied with a shoulder strap.
Finally the last step of the process is to select the transporting options for your Brompton
Eazy Wheels

These tyred rollers with industrial bearings can either
be fitted to the rear rack, or in place of the rollers attached to
the rear frame, allowing the folded bike to be smoothly pushed/pulled
around. A rubber bung, fitted to the bottom of the seat post, can be
used as a brake to prevent unwanted rolling.
Cover and saddle bag
Often useful, especially when travelling on
public transport, the zip-up Brompton Cover is quick to fit and
remove, and features a draw cord around its base to ensure a secure
fit. The cover comes in a saddle bag, ensuring it is readily to hand;
the saddle bag can be attached to purpose-built fastening loops at
the rear of the basic and Brooks saddles or to the rails of the
Vitesse saddle.
Brompton bag (B Bag)
Weighing
2.4Kg and made of tough nylon with 5mm padding and a reinforced base,
the B Bag is designed to provide protection against bumps and knocks
on longer journeys. The B Bag's integral castors, shoulder strap and
carry handles make transportation easy, and when not in use it packs
down flat for storage.
Those
are all the options that you have to costumize your bike, once yoy have
selectyed what you prefer on your bike we will order it and from the
moment of the orther it takes from 6 to 8 weeks to build each bike, the
reason for that is that as ech bike is different it have to be hand
built. You will have to ad a extra week for the delivery.
The prices of the Bromptons start around €700 and could go up to €2200 depending on you choices.
